Svensk Konsertdirektion - Alexander Markovich

Born 1964 in a family of musicians, Alexander Markovich entered the Moscow Gnessin School at the age of 6. He was 13 when he was awarded the first prize in the Prague Youth Radio Competition. He studied the piano and conducting at the Moscow Conservatory. In 1990 he immigrated to Israel and became Israeli citizen. Alexander Markovich partnered such great musicians as Vadim Repin and Maxim Vengerov, and his talent was then brought to the attention of international audience and critics. He subsequently accompanied instrumentalists like Sergey Nakaryakov, Julian Rachlin, Ida Haendel, Gerard Causse etc. and performed in such prestigious halls as Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, Berlin Philharmonie, Geyhal-Ha Tarbut, Tel Aviv, Suntori Hall in Tokyo and Champs Elysee in Paris. The "Strad" hails Alexander Markovich as an "absolutely outstanding musician".

In 1997, after meeting conductor Neeme Järvi, Alexander Markovich returned to solo activity and was invited to make his debut as a soloist with the Detroit Symphony which was a huge success. An invitation to play with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra followed as well as re-invitations to both Detroit and Montreal. He played with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra,WDR Cologne and the Residentie Orchestra in the Hague. In December 2005 Alexander Markovich played with the Bayerische Staatsorchester in Munich under Paavo Järvi and was subsequently immediately re-invited to take part in the orchestra’s New Year’s Gala performance conducted by Zubin Mehta.

Notable concerts include a recital in the Big Hall at the Moscow Conservatory, concerts with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra in Teatro Colon, performances of the Scharwenka Piano Concerto with the Lübeck Orchestra, a recital at the Ruhr Piano Festival and Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No 1 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the Royal Festival Hall in October 2007. Mr Markovich was re-invited to this orchestra in the end of October 2008 with Neeme Järvi conducting. He has also performed with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra.

Future engagements include a new collaboration (Liszt Piano Concerto No.2) with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski in January 2011, a re-invitation to the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, concerts with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and a reinvitation to the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna.

Alexander Markovich is well known through his recordings with Teldec, Deutsche Grammophon, Erato. His performance with Berlin Deutsche Symphonie in Berlin Philharmonie Hall was a sensation. Berlin Morgenpost called Alexander Markovich "FORMULA-1 PILOT".
